Female racers
There are female racers, since the very existence of sports cars. In 1888 Bertha Benz drove the first overland route ever in a motor vehicle.
In 1909 Alice Ramsey crossed the USA in her car and Clärenore Stinnes was the first person in history to orbit the world with an automobile. In later years, the number of fast women was fast increasing. At the height of her career in the early 1930s Hellé Nice was one of the first truly successful racers. Between the 1950s and -70s Denise McCluggage and Shirley Muldowney won one race after the other.
We lack space to list them all at this point, so we’ll get to our undisputed number one: Michèle Mouton, vice-world champion of the World Rally Championship in 1982 and one of the greatest rally driver of all time.
We are excited to find out which female racers will bring us the next breathtaking records.
