fahr(T)raum: Vintage Car Museum in Motion
Employees welcome the addition of the new flight and event hall
Located in Mattsee near Salzburg, the Ferdinand Porsche Worlds of Experiences fahr(T)raum is a special kind of vintage car museum: since its foundation by Porsche’s grandson Ernst Piëch on 15th June 2013, the museum has not only invited visitors to marvel at historic cars from the last century, but also to take an active part themselves, e.g. by racing on various simulators, taking the classic cars for a drive in the Salzburg Lake District or visiting various events and special exhibitions.
Managing Director Jakob Iglhauser has been an integral part of the fahr(T)raum team since June 2013 and is committed to continuous development: “The fahr(T)raum is always in motion. We always try to offer new exhibits and special exhibitions. Currently, our largest project is the addition of a new flight and event hall – the ‘flug(T)raum’.” Construction work on the conversion has been underway since April 2022. The ground floor offers additional space for the automobile exhibition and a large event room for up to 320 people, which can be rented for company celebrations, but also for private events, including the necessary technology. The first floor provides space for the VW Beetle exhibit and a seminar room. The Hansa Brandenburg (1918) and the Klemm (1924) aircraft will be suspended from the hall ceiling. An architectural highlight is also planned: a platform allowing a closer view of the aircraft. The flug(T)raum is set to open in January 2023.
The fahr(T)raum team is particularly looking forward to added space and new regular events.
Many employees have been with the team for many years and have already been involved in numerous challenges and changes, including Hans Vodnik, for whom the conversion is now the third construction site since the beginning of his career at fahr(T)raum. As in-house technician, he has been on the spot for all technical and other problems right from the start and also enjoys chauffeuring guests as a driver during vintage car excursions through the Salzburg Lake District. He is particularly happy about the new workshop and additional warehouse and is greatly exited about the entire construction phase and further development of the site.
For years now, Ilse Mairinger has been charming ticket-buyers at the welcome desk with her welcoming smile. For her, the new event location and the technology in the fahr(T)raum are the highlights of the new hall. Assistant Manager Sylvia Rohr has also been working in the fahr(T)raum nearly from day one and is impressed by how quickly and how well the construction site has been organised. Together with Lara Winter (welcome desk employee), she is looking forward to new events and to taking her first steps on the new aircraft platform.
Laura Walden from the Events Department can hardly wait to use the new event hall, including the large stage, for new events, such as tastings or concert series, and to test the sophisticated lighting and acoustic design. “For corporate events, the room can even be illuminated in the company colour”, Laura explains enthusiastically.
From January 2023, we invite you to see our new hall for yourself, experience additional exhibits and visit one of our events! The fahr(T)raum team is looking forward to seeing you!

The first traffic rules – displacement and adaptation caused by the automobile
